Cookie policy
This Privacy Policy, pursuant to art. 13 of the GDPR – EU Regulation 2016/679 and art. 122 of Legislative Decree 196/2003 (hereinafter, “Privacy Code”), describes the management methods of this website owned by V.I.T.A. S.P.A. with reference to the processing of personal data of users who consult it, also pursuant to what is required by the Privacy Authority’s Provision of 10.6.2021 “Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools” (hereinafter, “Provision”).
The policy is provided only for the above-mentioned website and not for other websites or sections/pages/spaces owned by third parties that the user may consult through appropriate links within it.
1. Cookies and their classification
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files sent by the website visited by the user to the user’s device (usually the browser), where they are stored so that the device can be recognised on the next visit. On each subsequent visit, cookies are resent from the user’s device to the site.
Each cookie generally contains: the name of the server from which the cookie was sent, the expiry date and a value, usually a unique number randomly generated by the computer. The web server that transfers the cookie uses this number to recognise you when you return to visit a site or navigate from page to page.
Cookies can be installed not only by the manager of the site visited by the user (first-party cookies), but also by a different site that installs cookies through the first site (third-party cookies) and is able to recognise them. This happens because the visited site may contain elements (images, maps, sounds, links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers other than that of the visited site.
Technical cookies
Based on their purpose, cookies are divided into technical cookies and statistical/profiling cookies. Technical cookies are those used solely for “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide that service” (cf. art. 122, para. 1, of the Privacy Code).
In particular, these cookies are usually used to allow efficient navigation between pages, store user preferences (language, country, etc.), perform computer authentication, manage the shopping cart or allow online purchases, etc. Some of these cookies (called essential or strictly necessary) enable functions without which certain operations would not be possible. Pursuant to the aforementioned art. 122, para. 1, of the Privacy Code, the use of technical cookies does not require user consent.
Analytics cookies are assimilated to technical cookies if used directly by the site manager to collect aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the site. These cookies allow website owners and/or managers to understand how users interact with the site’s content for optimisation purposes.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are used to track the user’s browsing, analyse their behaviour for marketing purposes and create profiles on their tastes, habits, choices, etc., in order to transmit targeted advertising messages in relation to the user’s interests and in line with the preferences expressed during online browsing. These cookies can be installed on the user’s terminal only if the user has expressed their consent in the simplified manner indicated in the Provision.
Duration of cookies
Based on their duration, cookies are divided into persistent, which remain stored until their expiry on the user’s device, unless removed by the user, and session cookies, which are not persistently stored on the user’s device and disappear when the browser is closed.
How to deactivate/modify cookies?
To modify preferences already expressed on cookies, an appropriate link to the control panel is present on the site at the margin of the pages or in the footer (bottom part) of the site.
By default almost all web browsers are set to automatically accept cookies. However, it is possible to modify this default configuration through the browser settings. Disabling, blocking or deleting cookies could however preclude the optimal use of some areas of the site, prevent the use of some services and make browsing slower.
The configuration of cookie management depends on the browser used. Usually, cookie configuration is done from the “Preferences”, “Tools” or “Options” menu. The links to the cookie management guides for the main browsers are provided below:
2. Extended Privacy Policy
